Box Emptier-Michael Pettyjohn and Steve Miller
Dallas Thursday Night Irregulars
Michael and Steve played a Dallas Thursday
Night Irregular tradition on Saturday, July 2.
Michael unpacked all the FoW he had and
Steve emptied his display cabinets.
Michael played German Panzers and Panzer
Grenadiers. Steve played Desert Rats Sicily
model.
The game was played on our superb
Thermopylae Pass terrain. I found several
terrain pieces I had not used nor knew I had.
This terrain must been seen to be believed!
Michael massed his Panthers, Ferdinands
and Mark IVs together in an armored
spearhead along with his Tigers and
captured T34s. Steve countered with
Shermans, Grants, Stuarts, Valentines, and
Crusaders. Michael's force was supported
by Wespes while Steve was dumb and split 8
batteries of RHA into two supporting batteries.
The game was a forgone conclusion after the
Ferdinands, Tigers and Panthers decimated
the poorly armored British tanks and AFVs.
Steve played for a draw by moving his SAS to
a flanking position. They were mowed down
by HMGs. Piss Poor Planning on Steve's part
ensured a quick breakthrough by the
Germans.
Steve's personal morale broke on about turn
5. Instead of whining about the number of
88s, his whining revolved around the
differential of 1943-44 technology to that of
1942. It was evident when the British
armored forces were just brewed up at long
range.
Game was fun but I'll purchase some
Churchills and Fireflys to leaven the mix a
touch for the next time. Here we go...Steve
plays catch up in the arms race.
Good game Michael! I'd do it again in a N.Y.
minute.
Enjoy the Mini Gallery...got enough figures to
hang with the DTNI? Drop me a line.
